Putin Praises China Ties Ahead of Beijing Visit

(MENAFN) Russian President Vladimir Putin has delivered a video message to the Chinese public ahead of his upcoming official trip to China, departing from his usual practice of publishing written interviews or articles before major overseas visits.

In the address, Putin said he was “delighted” to travel to Beijing again at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, whom he referred to as his “long-time good friend.”

“Regular mutual visits and Russia-China top-level talks are an important and integral part of our joint efforts to promote the entire range of relations between our two countries and unlock their truly limitless potential,” Putin said.

The Russian leader is scheduled to visit China on May 19 and 20 at Xi’s invitation. The trip also marks the 25th anniversary of the Russia-China Treaty of Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation.

According to Putin, the agreement established “a solid foundation for a genuinely strategic relationship and comprehensive partnership” between Moscow and Beijing.

He also said relations between the two countries had reached “a truly unprecedented level,” pointing to what he described as strong mutual trust, growing cooperation, and support for each other’s “core interests.”

Putin stated that Russia and China continue expanding collaboration in areas including politics, trade, defense, and humanitarian exchanges, adding that these topics will be central during talks in Beijing.

“I deeply appreciate President Xi Jinping’s commitment to long-term cooperation with Russia,” Putin said.

“I am convinced that our warm and friendly ties enable us to chart the boldest plans for the future and bring them to life.”
