Russia claims seizure of another settlement in Donetsk

(MENAFN) Russian authorities announced on Thursday that their forces have seized control of another settlement in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, amid ongoing military operations in the conflict that has lasted over three and a half years.

The Russian Defense Ministry stated that troops captured the village of Vasiukivka, located approximately 29 kilometers (18 miles) east of Kramatorsk, the administrative center of the region. Moscow has controlled Donetsk city since 2014.

Ukrainian officials have not yet responded to the announcement, and independent verification remains difficult due to the active combat situation.
